Donovan Mitchell on 2019 USA World Cup Team

On June 10, 2019, Donovan Mitchell was named to the 2019 USA Basketball Men’s National Team training camp roster and went on to be selected as a member of the 2019 USA World Cup Team, starting in all eight games in Beijing and helping the U.S. Men’s Basketball Team secure its spot to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.

Reflecting on the experience, Donovan told FIBA.basketball, “I knew what to expect from Coach Pop, especially defensively. Becoming a leader is also one thing I’ve worked on. I loved building relationships with guys throughout the league and seeing how they approach big games.”

Recognizing the honor of playing for Team USA and looking ahead to the 2020 Olympics, Donovan noted, “We’ll be ready and locked in. I’m excited. I know the guys in the NBA—whoever gets chosen to go to Tokyo and to the next tournament—Team USA will be ready.”
